As of 1 April, knowledge migrants, students and scientific researchers are allowed to work as an entrepreneur as well. They don’t need a new residence permit to qualify for this.

The new rules allow these people to start their own business alongside their work or study. However, they must continue to meet the conditions of their residence permit.

This is one of the ways to attract more talent from outside the EU.
