A report about European research in the social sciences and humanities shows that there is a strong desire amongst researchers to collaborate more on an international level.

However, there are many obstacles, such as lack of budge as well as lack of knowledge about  similar or related projects in other countries. There is also a tension between the demand for open access to all kinds of data and the current databases that are not designed with sharing information in mind.

In order to realise increased colaboration, a common infrastructure is needed. Research organisations need to their projects and results more visible to others.
