Anna’s new room is a fiction book about Anna, an 11-year-old girl who has moved from England to the Netherlands with her parents. Karen Gilmour is a first time author. Being a teacher who has lived and worked abroad for over 25 years, she has seen how transition can be difficult for kids to handle.

This book describes Anna’s new life, how she has to adjust to her new country, new house, new school and friends. She has to find her new marks that make her feel happy.

This book is aimed at any 8 to 12 year old child, who may enjoy discovering how this British girl adjusts to her new Dutch environment. There are some illustrations, which make the reading for kids appealing and easy to read; though any member of a family, in a process of relocation or handling transitions, could benefit from this book.

It shows children that they are not the only ones struggling with similar situations and that eventually exciting things will happen.
