Settling in a new country, especially if you are still learning the language, it can be hard to reconnect with activities or clubs you used to take part in. Wilhelmus Football Club, based in Voorburg, has a special expat section to make sure new arrivals can stay active and involved.

Wilhelmus International is the expat section of a local club – Wilhelmus. The international section’s history goes back 20 years and we moved to Wilhelmus in 2009 due to the ever increasing numbers of people who wanted to play. We currently run 6 senior teams in the local amateur leagues including a Ladies squad, and are always open to new members. Players of all standards are very welcome to join and we have teams in a wide range of levels. For information about membership please mail us on or check out the expat section of our website.

Playing football is a great way of meeting new friends with similar interests whilst having fun and getting/staying fit. As well as having players from 30+ different countries we also have a number of Dutch members who prefer to play in our unique international environment.

The club has excellent facilities including 2 artificial and 3 grass pitches, plenty of changing rooms with hot showers and a fully stocked canteen and bar. The expat section comprises of around 170 players amongst a total club membership of 1,250. The board are highly active and progressive and are looking to make Wilhelmus one of the very best clubs in the region.

On July 2 nd we are holding our annual international tournament. The tournament is great fun and players from many local international companies and organisations compete for the Wilhelmus International Summer 7s trophy. The format is 7-a- side, although we recommend having up to 10 players per team to give everyone a chance to have a rest! Mail Phil Loughton for further information.
