FAQs

Do you want to join the ACCESS Counselling Service Network? Need postgraduate supervision or looking for internships? Please read further.

Join the ACCESS Counselling Service Network:

The ACCESS Counselling Service Network (CSN) is open to receiving new members on a need basis. To be considered for membership you must have a Master's degree with two years of supervised, post graduate experience and are a native/fluent English speaker.

To apply send your CV along with a support letter that describes what you have done in more detail to (see the "join CSN" page under "related links" to your left). Some criteria to include would be the length of work experience, where you have previously worked, what populations you specifically worked with, what languages you feel comfortable counselling in, etc. Give us a picture of what you have to offer the CSN.

The main criteria, if you fit the above base qualifications, would be is there a need for a counsellor with your background in the area you wish to serve.

After your application has been received by our CSN Coordinator it will be reviewed by the CSN New Member Committee based on specific criteria. This can take some time, so we ask for your patience, but you will be contacted when a decision has been made.

Supervision for students and/or post graduates:

At this time, the members of the CSN are unable to provide supervision under any capacity as a joint decision of the network. Our counsellors are practitioners and/or professors and focus on their private practice(s).

Supervision creates an element of liability and that is not something that the CSN can provide on an individual basis. If in the future opportunities for supervision become available we will post information on our website.

We also unfortunately do not have any leads/tips to assist you in finding individual supervision elsewhere.

Internships:

The CSN is unable to provide internships for those specifically seeking counselling experience under any capacity as a joint decision of the network. Our counsellors are practitioners and/or professors and focus on their private practice(s).

We can refer you back to you educational institution in hopes they have links with appropriate entities in your community to help you fulfil your goals (counselling hour requirements).

If you are looking for a non-counselling internship please look at our homepage for options to volunteer with ACCESS.
