ACCESS Cancerlink is a support network, in English, for those with cancer and their family, friends, co-workers and caregivers. |
 |
It can be an overwhelming experience when your life is touched by cancer. Whether it is yourself, a family member or close friend, it has a huge impact. This is particularly so if you are living away from your home country and your normal support group.
ACCESS Cancerlink is here to support you in these difficult circumstances.

| Benefits of ACCESS Cancerlink |
 |
Talking about cancer relieves some of the anxiety and is the first step towards dealing with it. This can often be too painful with those closest to you. This is where ACCESS Cancerlink can help. It provides:
A safe and caring environment to share information, experiences, stories, stresses, feelings, worries
and celebrations.
Currently, ACCESS Cancerlink offers 15 minutes of telephone support on a weekly basis. This is
provided by trained counsellors from International Counselling Connections, working with ACCESS on a
voluntary basis.
ACCESS Cancerlink hopes to develop a telephone network whereby individuals affected by cancer can
share their experiences with each other. If there is sufficient demand it may be possible to offer a
monthly group meeting at ACCESS in The Hague or Amsterdam.
The Ingeborg Douwes Centrum in Amsterdam, specialists in the provision of cancer support, have designed a self-assessment questionnaire for individuals affected by cancer. Filling out this questionnaire can help you establish whether you might benefit from one to one counselling.
